Pastor Tom & Debbie Caverly September 22, 2008
Pastor Thomas Michael “Tom” Caverly, 55 and Debra Kerby “Debbie” Caverly, 51, of Kinston, died together on Monday September 22, 2008 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. They were married on August 16, 1975.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon September 27, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville with the Rev. Ben Ferrell officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.
Debbie was born in Elba, Alabama, the daughter of Mary Sue Hurley Kerby and the late Leo McKinley Kerby. She was a secretary at New Hope Baptist Church in Kinston and was a member of Neuse Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Caverly of Kinston; son, David Caverly and wife, Lisa of Youngsville; grandchildren, Hunter and Brianna Caverly both of Youngsville; her mother, Mary Sue Kerby of Russellville, Alabama; sister, Donna Darby of Alabama; several nieces, nephews and special friends.
Pastor Tom was born in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Janet Ann Southgate Caverly and Myron Royce Caverly. He was employed at the Baptist Children’s Home in Kinston and was a member of Neuse Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Caverly of Kinston; son David Caverly and wife Lisa of Youngsville; grandchildren, Hunter and Brianna both of Youngsville; sisters, Judy Morrow and husband, Rex of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Pam Turner and husband, Butch of Florence, SC; brother, Rod Caverly and wife, Luisa of Mint Hill; several nieces and nephews and special friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Mr. & Mrs. Caverly, 117 New Castle Ct. Youngsville, NC 27596.
Pallbearers were Rod Caverly, Butch Turner, Terry Vandiver, Josh Morrow, Darren Aiken, David Micus, Todd Brady, Stewart Champion, Robbie Champion, Brad Fyfe, Billy Morrison and Allen Hobgood.
