Welcome to the memorial page for

Danielle Allen

April 29, 1925 ~ January 27, 2018 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Anna Luise Jordan Allen, known in later life to her friends as “Danielle”, died as she prayed she would peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 27th at Duke Raleigh Hospital with her son by her side. With her warm and loving personality, she will be missed by all who knew her.

In her life, she was a dutiful and loving wife to A. Ward Allen who has been waiting for her in Heaven since November of 2005.

She is survived by: her son, Luke L. Allen and wife, Melody Allen; her grandchildren, Sean N. Allen, Genevieve A. Dasher and husband, James Dasher; her step-grandchild, K. Sean Finch and his girlfriend, Jen Vieceli. She is also survived by her only great grandchild, Shilo Carter, son of Sean A. Allen.

While her formal occupation was as a homemaker and wife, she always embraced helping others, trying to bring a smile to those around her. Studying ballet in her youth, she later loved to dance for friends at parties. She loved fashion. She was a self-taught seamstress, who loved to make clothes and then share them with her friends. She loved to model and was a favorite subject for local photographers in New Bern. She participated in and helped execute fashion shows in for Junior League in New Bern and Wilson. In later years she loved to knit scarfs for friends and to donate to those in need.

She was raised in Germany along with her fraternal twin sister, Elsie Jordan and her older brother and sister. She experienced first-hand World War II. She was inspired by her mother, Berta Jordan, who was a widely known doctor and healer of any who needed her services. This included Jews when it was illegal to do so. It was her mother’s inspiration that inspired “Danielle” to reach out with kindness to those she met. Her family members are surely there to greet her in Heaven.
