Darwin Theophilus Jackson, Jr.

Darwin T. Jackson Jr., 83, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

Darwin “Junior” Theophilus Jackson was born on March 1,1940 and lived an adventurous life. He retired from the National Guard as a Staff Sargent and spent many years of service to his community as a fireman in the Falls Volunteer Fire Department. He also retired from the Raleigh News and Observer where he worked as a typesetter. In his spare time, he enjoyed sky diving. This may have been inadvertently introduced to him as a young boy by his brothers, which did not escape their mother’s notice, nor her wrath when she found out what had been done to the baby of the family, with a burlap sack.

Junior is predeceased by his parents, DT Jackson Sr. and Dorothy Fuller Jackson, and the love of his life and wife, Judith Jackson.

He is survived by his brothers, Jesse and William Jackson, his daughters Teresa Collins and Teresa Foster, his stepsons, Frederick Foster III and Thor Foster, and his grandchildren, Angelica Eaton, Gary Collins, Frederick Foster IV, Raymond Foster & Dennis Boughton. Junior as well as his 7 great grandchildren will be greatly missed. To quote St. Francis of Assisi, “It is in dying that we are born into Eternal Life.”

Rest in peace Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Funeral Services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Falls Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Falls Community Cemetery with military honors.
