Dr Donald Jay Bailey

Donald Jay Bailey passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022.  Jay was a Doctor of Optometry for 35 years in Raleigh, NC.  He loved to travel the world including most of the Caribbean Islands, New Orleans and wherever the UNC football team was playing.  He was a Rams Club donor for 30 years and was a dedicated, loyal fan of UNC athletics.  His mother, Carolyn B. Bailey preceded him in death. 

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 at 2:30 pm at Bay Leaf Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Cottrell and Craig Bailey officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.  A private family graveside service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 am in Stony Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Noah Bailey and Nathan Bailey, his father, Donald Bailey, a brother, Craig Bailey and wife Missy, a sister, Paige Cottrell and husband Mark and nieces and nephews, Cara Hodge and husband Josh, Jade Marion and husband Travis, Jonas Bailey and wife Kayla, Caleb Cottrell, Grace Cottrell and Silas Cottrell.
