Edwin Carson Leonard

Edwin Carson Leonard (Daddy, PaPa, Ed) passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 24, 2022 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh. He was born in Wake County on February 7, 1936 to Plumer and Betsie (Lassiter) Leonard. He worked for the Department of Transportation for over 32 years. Ed loved people, life and laughter, going to Brigs with his devoted wife and spending time with his precious family. His loving, joyful laughter, whistling and singing will be missed by all.

Ed was preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Charles Wilt, Dan, Mack and Lee and his special friends like family Gene and Erika Woodlief.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary (Edwards) Leonard; son Jeffery Leonard (Angela Harrison) and his daughter Diane Leonard Ray (Michael); grandchildren Rachel Ray, Rebekah Ray Batts (Tommy); great grandchildren Erika Elizabeth, Emmett and Elise Batts; brother in law Jerry Edwards (Linda); special “family” David and Sharon Woodlief Britt; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite grand dog Cookie.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday May 28, 2022 in the Bright Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Britt and Rev. Marshall Neathery officiating. Burial will follow in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11AM prior to the service at Bright Funeral Home.
