September 16, 1929 ~ June 10, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Gaius Max Mangum, 87, died on Friday June 9, 2017 in Wilson. He is now pitching ball for God’s baseball team.

Max was born in Franklin County on September 16, 1929 to the late Samuel Gaius Mangum and Susie Bailey Mangum. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris M. Davis and Burma M. Pearce and a brother, Burley Mangum, sister-in-law, Janie Pearl Mangum and brother-in-laws, Edwin B. Davis and Worth Pearce and a niece, Patsy Whitt.

Max graduated from Wake Forest High School and attended Wake Forest College. He was a member of the Woodland Baptist Church.

Max is survived by four nieces, Suzanne W. Bailey, Emogene M. Kelly, Karen P. Wynn and Patricia M. Montague and many great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning June 17, 2017 in the Mangum Family Cemetery on Mangum Dairy Road in Wake Forest.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund 190 Woodland Church Road Wake Forest, NC 27587.
