Gerald Thomas Bowes

Mr. Gerald Bowes, age 74 of Raleigh passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Mr. Bowes was born in Roxboro, NC on September 26, 1947 to Lawrence and Sophia (MacFarland) Bowes. He was educated in Person County schools; Longhurst Elemetary , Roxboro High School and the Croft Business School in Durham. Gerald had been employed for the NC Highway Patrol and the Roxboro Police Department as a dispatcher, the Central Prison in the processing department and later for Raleigh/Wake County 911 Dispatch. Mr. Bowes retired from the Argos Concrete Company as a Customer Service representative. Gerald served his country honorably in the US Air Force. He was a faithful member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church having been very active in the music ministry as a percussionist in the praise band. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was known to make friends wherever he went.

He leaves behind his memory to his wife Phyllis (Smith) Bowes of Raleigh; his son and daughter in law Russell and Carly of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren Campbell Bowes of Walla Walla, WA, Calen Bowes of Wake Forest, Harper Bowes of Wake Forest; brother and sister in law Donald and Amy Bowes of Roxboro, NC.

Family would like in lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Music Ministry.

The Family will be greeting friends in the Bright Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 15, from 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Raleigh at 11AM followed by interment in the Olde Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
