Geraldine H. (Hailey) Heath

April 29, 1938 ~ April 11, 2022 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Geraldine Hailey Heath, 83, of Wake Forest moved to her heavenly home on Monday evening, April 11, 2022, surrounded by her devoted children and beloved husband. “Gerry” was born in Wake County on April 29, 1938 to the late Melvin and Nellie Hailey. She was a 1956 graduate of Wake Forest High School, and she always looked forward to her annual class reunions.

Gerry demonstrated a life of faith and service to her family and community. As a life-long member of New Light Church of God, she committed her life to follow Christ and faithfully serve God by loving and serving others. In later years, she and her husband attended Wake Forest Church of God where they made wonderful friends. Whenever there was a need in the church or her community, she would first faithfully pray, and then send a note of encouragement, make a phone call, or deliver a home-cooked meal to ease someone’s burden. Her kind, gentle, and compassionate spirit was a gift to all who knew her!

Her greatest joy in life was fulfilling her calling as a devoted wife and mother. She made a career of being a full-time homemaker and attending to the needs of her family. Throughout her life, she loved her family well and was the model of grace and sacrifice. Her joy was multiplied when she became “MeMa” to 2 granddaughters and 3 great-grandchildren. She took pride in her closely knit family and would always say, “We are blessed.”  In recent months of rapidly declining health, her family had the privilege of caring for her in her home and was able to provide the tender loving care that she needed.

Gerry is survived by her beloved husband, Charles, of 63 years of marriage, her children, Cheryl H. Perry of Wake Forest, and Darrell Heath (Phyllis Leonard) of Youngsville; grandchildren, Meagan H. Leonard, (Eric), of Youngsville, Ashton P. Taylor, (Robbie) of Raleigh, and great grandchildren, Noah Heath, Loralei and Mabry Leonard all of Youngsville. She is also survived by a brother, Albert Hailey, a sister, Betty Harp (Linwood), sister-in-law, Becky Hailey all of Wake Forest and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother (Jim Hailey), her son-in-law, (Neal Perry), and her sister-in-law, (Carol Hailey) all of Wake Forest.

The family would like to express their appreciation to family and friends for their love and prayers of support over the past year.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2022 in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Wake Forest, NC.
