Tribute

Homer Raydon Aikin, 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Homer was a great man who lived by these words: Be kind one to another. He grew up in a coal mining town in Illinois and survived the great depression.  Homer joined the army at 17 and served more than 20 years which included the Korean war. Later, he was also a civil servant for another 20 years for the Department of Defense. He served as a Deacon in various churches during his lifetime and loved Jesus with all his heart.

Homer is survived by six children, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.

We are sure that heaven welcomed Homer with a big party and proclaimed the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”  Homer lived a beautiful life and died a beautiful death surrounded by his closest family members and friends.

A celebration of Homer’s life will be held at Seven Marks Church, Raleigh, NC on April 19th at 2:00 in the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, Homer would have appreciated donations to his local VFW chapter.  If you would like to donate you can go to VFW8466.org, scroll to DONATE TO WAKE FOREST MEMORIAL POST 8466 or you may write a check to Wake Forest Memorial Post 8466 and mail it to VFW Post 8466, P.O.
