Marjorie Marie “Mema” Wynne, née Jackson, 91, died Friday August 18, 2017 at her childhood home near Wake Forest. She was born June 24, 1926 to John Vance Jackson Sr. and Macie Ray Jackson.
During WWII, she worked as a telegrapher for Seaboard Railroad and for the War Department in the Pentagon. Later, she worked at First Citizens’ Bank for over twenty years. An avid traveler, she loved trips to Hawaii; visited Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and France; and took a cross country road trip. During her nine-year battle with dementia, she retained her sweet, loving nature.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John Vance Jr. and Charles Jackson.
Surviving are her husband of 71 years, Alfred E. Wynne; daughters, Donna and Phyllis; son-in-law, Jim, and granddaughter, Allison.
The funeral service was held 11 am Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest followed by interment at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
