Robert Edward Martin

Robert (Bob) Edward Martin, age 62, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, after a brave fight with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Debbie Martin for 37 years and the proud father of Sean Martin and his wife Taylor of Eielson AFB, AK, Kelly Person and her husband Tommy of Knoxville, TN, and Kevin Martin and his wife Megan of Nashville, TN.  Bob was an adoring and loving “Papa” to his 4 grandchildren: Wyatt, Amsden, Eli, and Collins. He was also a caring brother to Francis Martin and Theresa Detrani. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Walter Martin.

Bob was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.  He received his Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Northeastern University and was employed by the DEA immediately following his graduation. After 30 years, and positions in Boston, Baltimore, Miami, El Paso, and finally Las Vegas, he retired in 2010 and settled in Youngsville, North Carolina.

Bob was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest. He was an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and held positions including President, Vice President, and Marshal.  His leadership, laughter, and love for Irish music and culture was, and is second to none.  Eternal rest grant upon our Brother, Bob Martin.

Bob was a hardworking, selfless family man that prided himself over the many accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.  He was always present, attending countless birthdays, school events, sporting events, and all celebrations, big and small.  His memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to have known him.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, NC on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11 a.m. EST. A celebration of life reception will be held immediately following at Knights of Columbus- 4301 Columbus Club Drive, Raleigh, NC, 27604.  As of now, live streaming the service is not available.  However, if that changes, a link will be provided.  Donations may be made to the Ancient Order of Hibernian Society of Wake County in his memory by going to this website  www.wakeaoh.com/bobmartin/
