Valerie Anne Ham

Valerie Anne Ham, age 73, went to be with the Lord after battling cancer, while surrounded by her family on February 8, 2018. She was a Valentine’s baby, born to Charles and Jean Lippy on February 14, 1944 in Baltimore, MD. She has three younger brothers: Craig, Brian, and Joe. A registered nurse, who graduated from the University of Maryland, she married Robert Ham in 1968. God blessed them with four children (Drew, Kelly, Lisa, and Jason), and a gang of grandchildren. She loved them dearly and was thrilled to spend her final days with them in Wake Forest.

In 1982, after a 20-year military career, Bob and Val settled in MD, where they had previously been stationed. They were very committed to their church in Lexington Park, MD. Valerie was involved with a medical mission team that traveled to Moldova. She traveled to Moldova every year for over a decade, and later assisted in the funding and construction of a clean water project there. Bob and Val moved to Florida in 2010 and were excited to join Trinity Baptist Church. They both loved to serve where needed, and had a blast taking their grandchildren to Disney World and Lego-Land!
Even though Bob passed away in 2015, Val often spoke of him and their marriage. She was a devoted wife to the very end, wearing her wedding band until the day she died.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, at 3pm at North Wake Baptist Church, 1212 S. Main St., Wake Forest, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a mission project called Entermissions (please make checks payable to “North Wake Church” and simply add Entermissions in the memo line).

“Mema,” as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, will be greatly missed. Her faith in Jesus Christ was evident to all who knew her.
