Velma (England) Johnson

Velma Jean Johnson, 77, was born on July 23, 1944, in Girard, Ohio. Velma, better known as “Muff,” passed away peacefully, surrounded by her long time caregivers on Monday May 9, 2022, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

 Muff was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church and a beloved former teacher at Friendship Christian School.  As her health continued to decline, several church members became her family and lovingly saw to her care.

Muff was predeceased by her father Ray Edward England, mother Evelyn England, husband Robert Johnson, son Michael Johnson, and her brothers Jack and Bobby. She is survived by her adopted daughter M’Lisa Margason of Houston, Texas, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.    

We rejoice in knowing that Muff is home with her Lord and Savior, free of pain and worldly cares. We know she will be missed by the church members whose hearts she touched, and the many students she taught. She would want them to know they can be assured of joining her in that heavenly home.     

A Memorial service will be held at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S Main St, Wake Forest, NC 27587, on May 21, 2022, at 2:00 PM.
