Jack Thomas Upton

June 8, 1932 ~ February 18, 2018 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Jack Thomas Upton, 85, of Wake Forest NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 18, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife, Lola Comer Upton, in August 2014 after 61 years of marriage. Jack passed away at home with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Randolph County NC, at the age of 18, he began work at Klopman Mills in Asheboro NC. He worked 46 years in the textile industry and finished his career as an International Consultant. Jack was a member of Needham’s Grove Church and taught a Men’s Sunday School class for 42 years. In 1977, he and Lola moved the family to Wake Forest, after he became the plant manager of Burlington Industries in Franklinton, NC. In his later years, Jack was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Youngsville. He was a loving parent and grandparent and lived his life as a Christian example to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2018, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Garden, Wake Forest.

Jack leaves behind two sons, Dr. Kevin Comer Upton and wife, Mitzi, Jerome Thomas Upton and wife, Sherry all of Wake Forest; four grandchildren, Samuel of Charlotte, Martha of NYC, Graham of Annapolis MD and Emma Upton of Wake Forest. In addition, he is survived by Don and Jeannie Upton and Carolyn and Larry Earp, of Charlotte, along with their families.

Jack is also survived by sisters in law Ethelene Comer, Evelyn Caviness, Helen Ritter, Betty Caviness, brothers-in-law Carroll Comer (wife, Lynda) and Arnold Comer (wife, Patsy). He was preceded in death by relatives, Mittie and Ollie Williamson, Ethel and Colon Kennedy, Edith and Fred Yow, Tracy and Dorothy Comer, Bill and Juanita Comer, Mattie and Alton Needham, Ted Comer, Clarence Caviness, J.B. Ritter, and Fred Caviness. He was blessed to have numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the special caregivers from Stay At Home Senior Care of Wake Forest and Kindred Hospice of Oxford, who devoted themselves to his care, as well as the special love and care provided by his neighbors.
