Tribute

On Friday, November 18, 2022, Alex G. Alexander Sr., a beloved husband and father went to his Heavenly home.  He was ninety-three.  He is survived by his loving wife, Doris, of fifty-six years, son, Alex Jr. (Kristin), daughter, Tina (David) and grandchildren, Avery, Alex III, and Owen.

Alex was born in Pensacola, FL to George and Evangelia Alexander who were Greek immigrants.  He spent most of his childhood in Memphis, TN.  He attended Humes High School, coincidentally, with Elvis Presley.  After joining the U.S. Army he spent time in NY and TX before finally landing in Raleigh, NC as an official military photographer.  After an honorable discharge from the Army, he began a long career with Exide.  There he was an engineer working on government contracts to build batteries used in space exploration.  This is also where he met his sweetheart who would come to be his life partner.  After retiring from Exide he continued similar lines of work for Johnson Controls, Microwave Laboratories and finally Ark-Les Corporation.  After leaving Ark-Les, he joined the team at Leith Maserati of Raleigh driving vehicles and shuttling both people and parts.  He thoroughly enjoyed this change of pace and meeting many people.

Throughout his school career and beyond, Alex was an avid tennis player and musician.  While in the army he continued both hobbies, but also pursued photography, which became his official military job.  After meeting his love and becoming a father, he was a family man through and through.  While balancing work and home life, he managed to be highly successful at both.  He rarely missed a day at work, but also managed to attend many baseball, soccer, basketball, softball games and swim meets.  He lead both of his children through the YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses.  He was an avid reader and could be found many times sitting on the porch reading electronic books on his tablet.  He was always an active member of church, first Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Raleigh, NC and then upon moving, Faith Baptist Church of Youngsville, NC.  He was very strong in his Christian Faith and found great joy in sharing God's love, especially in song.

He will be remembered as a loving husband and dedicated father, friend to all and believer in Christ.  He was a man who loved all his family both immediate and extended whole heartedly.
