Amy Elizabeth Alford

Amy Elizabeth Alford, 60, of Wake Forest passed away on Thursday May 5, 2022 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her father Fred Morris Alford and her mother Ruby Summerlin Alford Eaves. She is survived by her partner Karen Ashe, her son Cooper who was the light of her life, her brother Kevin Alford, cousin Cliff Alford who was a like a second brother and his wife Judy, a nephew Cameron Alford and his wife Kirstyn, a great niece Keely, great nephews Grayson and Ashton, nephew Casey Alford and dear friends Rose and Lee Godfrey.

She is also survived by numerous cousins and many good friends including her Emerald Isle beach family and law enforcement family.

Amy served in law enforcement at several agencies during her career, lastly as the Chief of Police of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture where she retired January 1, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon May 10, 2022 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Youngsville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

As those close to her know, the UNC Tarheels and the Washington Redskins were an important part of her life. In honor of her love for sports, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite college or professional sports team attire.

Flowers are welcome or donations in Amy’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Oak Grove Baptist Church’s youth program.

Friends may visit with the family following the service in the church fellowship building.
