Ann Marie Bateson

Ann Marie Bateson, 84, of Wake Forest, passed away on Sunday March 22, 2020 at Hillside Nursing & Rehab Center in Wake Forest. She was born April 21, 1935 in Jersey City, NJ, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Barbara (Angelo) Ialeggio. She was predeceased by a brother Edward Ialeggio. 

Ann Marie graduated from Dickinson High Highschool in NJ. She lived in NJ entire life and moved to North Carolina three years ago. Ann Marie has had an eight year battle with Alzheimer’s. Ann Marie was selfless, loving and kind to all who knew her. She will be missed many. Ann Marie was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church and St. Mary’s Seniors of Pompton Lakes, NJ and was involved with Lakeland Marine Detachment of Pompton Lakes, NJ. She loved to cook and could whip up a gourmet meal within minutes. She adored her husband, children, grandchildren, and siblings. 

Ann Marie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Bateson, of Wake Forest, her children: Barbara Kwiatek and her spouse Walter of Wake Forest, Brooks Bateson and his spouse Nancy of Raleigh, and William Bateson and his spouse Jackie of Butler NJ; grandchildren: Paige Kwiatek of Wake Forest, Justin Kwiatek of Wake Forest, Brooks Bateson of Raleigh, Trina Bateson of Wind Gap PA, William Bateson of Butler NJ and Jessica Bateson Butler NJ; siblings: Linda Coutts and her husband Jim of Wayne NJ, and Kenny Ialeggio and his wife Carol of Oak Ridge NJ; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

The family will hold a private service at Bright Funeral Home 405 S. Main Street. Wake Forest, NC 27587, and entombment will take place in New Jersey. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church COVID-19 Relief Fund 834 Durham Road Wake Forest, NC.
