Ann Boykin Flynn

Ann Boykin Flynn, 87 of Raleigh, NC peacefully left this life on January 6, 2019.

A native of Wilson, NC, she was born June 22, 1931 to John Henry Boykin and wife Julia Rountree Boykin. She attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, afterwards working for Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Co. and then The Wilson Daily Times. After moving to Raleigh in 1966, she worked with and retired from The News & Observer.

Ann was a beautiful, stealth, and spirited woman through out her life, who like her mother loved people, her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed life, she loved to dance and interestingly was voted by her Rock Ridge High School mates as "best dancer" and "most polite”. She was a reporter on her high school newspaper, liked sports, and played basketball in high school. We remember summers spending time out doors, at the ball park with our mother while she played on softball teams and was noted as a great pitcher.

She is survived by her son Michael T. Flynn and wife Connie of Wake Forest, NC, daughter Deborah A. Flynn of Raleigh, daughter-in-law Deborah H. Flynn, five grandchildren Ashley, David, Laura, Trent and Victoria, along with her niece Dr. Linda Burgess-Getts and husband Al all of Wake Forest, NC, a sister in law Mrs. Charles Boykin of Stantonsburg, NC along with many nieces, nephews and their children all of Wilson, NC.

Ann graciously walked into the arms of her parents “Spinx” and “Julie” Boykin, grandparents Jonathan
Rountree and Harriet Lucas Rountree, and also Woodson and Eveline Griffin Boykin, and too her great grand parents Council Boykin and Blessing Flowers Boykin. Importantly, she joined brothers Hubert, Ollie, Charles and John along with sisters Hattie and Mary Boykin, all of Wilson, NC, her husband E.C. Flynn Jr. of Greer, SC, and son Randolph Dean Flynn of Wake Forest, NC.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main Street, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

The funeral service will be held at Bright Funeral Home Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm with interment following at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest, NC.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Litchford Falls Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Raleigh, NC for their loving care of Mrs. Flynn.
