Anna May Davies

Anna May Davies (Malatesta), 93, born November 13, 1929, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 30, 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Anna was one of 14 children of Flory and Emma (Uphold) Malatesta.  Anna was very close to her identical twin sister, GeGe (Lena).  Anna graduated from Martins Ferry High School.  She married to George Wilbur Davies in 1959, (divorced in 1991).  Anna worked a variety of jobs:  Woolworth, Winter’s Hardware, Giant Eagle Grocery, and the local newspaper in Martins Ferry, where she lived most of her life.  Anna moved to Wake Forest, NC early in 1999 in order to be with her daughter Jenny when her granddaughter Jessica was born later that year.

First and foremost, Anna loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was devoted to Scripture.  She loved her brothers and sisters dearly and was close to all of them, especially her younger sister Jenny.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a wonderful mother-in-law.  She was very involved in church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering.  She always sought to be used by the Lord, and was an encouragement to many.  Anna had an irrepressible spirit and strength of will.  She was always up for a good time, and loved to dance.

Preceded in death by her father (Flory Malatesta); mother (Emma Uphold Malatesta); siblings:  Josephine Buonamici, Phoebe Kronjaeger, Carl Malatesta, Paul Malatesta, Marshall Malatesta, Leonard Malatesta, Rose Marangoni, Isabelle Stopera, Lena Reese (Anna’s identical twin sister), Canado Malatesta, Rita Roth, Julius Malatesta; and ex-husband George W. Davies.  Anna is survived by her only child Jenny Head (Davies), Jenny’s husband Thomas Head, granddaughter Jessica Head, and Anna’s sister Jenny Malatesta.
