I was privileged to work withTony at Norwalk Hospital before he even thought of nursing school. He was so special and continued to be so throughout his life. Condolences to his husband and family.

I had the privilege of working with Tony at Bristol-Myers Squibb when we were Medical Science Liaisons in the HIV/AIDS group.

Tony was an absolutely wonderful colleague.. A great team member, always willing to help support whatever projects were needed and help team members be successful in their roles. His warmth, welcoming smile and positive attitude was contagious. His contributions to patient care, scientific and clinical expertise as well as his caring and deep-seated commitment to human kindness and rights will be deeply missed May he rest in peace.

I only met Tony a few times through our mutual dear friend Chris Bernart. He immediately struck me as an astonishing loving person with a sparkle always in his eyes and making you feel like you were the only person in the room. His humility betrayed all the goodness he has spread throughout the world. I know that will continue as his beloved soul looks out for all of us.

My heart is sad that Tony is no longer with us. I knew Tony when he was working alongside John Bartlett at the Duke HIV Clinic while I was working at UNC. He was also a tireless volunteer and we interacted through that. He was sweet, full of life, boundless energy and humor. All of these were important and winning characteristics during the very dark time when most of our patients did not make it. He always put a smile on the face of those he met with including me. Safe travels my friend. The world is a better place because of you.

So true. My partner (now deceased) Christopher and I always looked forward to his bubbly spirit in clinic. We valued his input on the HIV/AIDS Community Advisory Board at Duke where we were co-members. HIs death leaves a large hole.

The world has lost a very special man....to say he had a big heart wouldn't do him justice. He was the kindest, sweetest guy in this world.
Tony, Jr. will live in my memory forever. He was indeed one in a million...Tony isn't gone as his good deeds and spirit lives on in all of us.
Love you, Tony.

There are no words, except his smile will be with us always. One of the kindest human beings I've ever met. His light will shine on always in my heart. Love to all his friends and family he leaves behind. It was a privilege to know him.

Tony, you are in our thoughts and prayers now. Your family and Tony A's family "Antoine" {remember that neither of us spoke any French, but used it all as a code} were so loved and appreciated by Tony throughout the ups and downs. I cannot begin to tell you the way in which all his old patients (so many still alive) have responded to his death--heartfelt sadness, love and disbelief--. For John as you know, Tony had his back all he way through his Residency at the VA, and Duke, and as they started the new clinic together, it was a constant learning curve. No one knew what would work, nor what wouldn't. The days in that new clinic were intense, and only those in the inner circle would ever believe what/how we dealt with it all. Barlett, Cathy, John, Ken, me,Kay (data) (Irma) pharm Tech and two other PA's--we lived a crazy life. So many memories, even one when we had a power outage and ours was the only clinic in the hospital that did not have back up power! (accident? I think not). Tony kept the same smile, the same optimism, the same hope. The whole time he was with our clinic, he had hope and optimism. His life will not die with his death!

My deepest condolences to Tony and the families of Tony A. and Tony H. Tony was a loving friend and brilliant clinician. He was an inspiring mentor to me professionally and motivated me to become an AIDS Certified Nurse and participate in the Triangle AIDS Alliance and ANAC. His spirit and enthusiasm for rock-n-roll music, especially The Rolling Stones, was someI greatly enjoyed. I feel fortunate to have gone to 4 concerts with him. Thanks to Tony, I met and made so many lasting friends. His kindness and compassion was infectious and he always made everyone feel blessed to be around him. He was a caring and generous human being. I feel a big loss!
May he RIP with the Angels. Love, Maddy.
