Archie Lee Gupton, 80, of Butner passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born March 7, 1940 in Louisburg, NC son of the late Ezra and Lila Gilliam Gupton.
His wife, Margaret Bland Gupton, and sisters, Viola Champion, Elsie Uzzle and Blanche Gupton, also preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2020 at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest from 12:30 – 1:30 PM. A private graveside service will be held Friday, June 19 in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, NC. Face coverings and social distancing are appreciated.
Mr. Gupton retired from the U.S. Air Force and the NC Department of Agriculture. During his 20-year service in the Air Force, he was stationed in Canada, Germany, Oklahoma, Nevada, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and he served a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. His hobbies and interests included cooking, dancing and doing for others. He was also an active member of the Local American Legion, VFW and Butner Museum Society.
He is survived by his special companion, Florence Gupton, nieces, Cindy Jobe (Danny) and Tanya Kennedy (Jimmy) and nephews, Reginald Champion (Debbie), Stewart Champion (B.J.) and Eddie Uzzle (Linda).
