Avis E. Sheikh

Mrs. Avis Eileen Sheikh, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, passed away on September 26, 2020.  Avis was born on September 9, 1926 in Pakistan to the late Mr. K. John and Mrs.  Mabel Elizabeth Sett. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. M. Latif Sheikh and her sisters Mrs. Muriel Violet Watson and Mrs. Maude Hester. 

Mrs. Avis Sheikh is survived by her sons, Mr. Richard Sheikh and his wife Dr. Ambreen Sheikh, Mr. Christopher Sheikh and his wife Mrs. Inbisat Sheikh, her grandchildren Dr. Omair Sheikh, Dr. Mehreen Hall,  Mr. Aiser Sheikh,  Mr. Samad Sheikh, and her great grandson Samuel Hall.

Mrs. Avis Sheikh was a nurse by profession and was the superintendent of nursing at a large hospital in Pakistan. Knitting, cooking, baking, listening to music, and doing word puzzles were her favorite pastimes. She was an outstanding woman of God, a prayer warrior, strong in her faith, and a beacon of light to everyone around her. As a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother (Dadi) and great grandmother she has left behind a tremendous legacy of faith and love. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main Street, Wake Forest, NC, 27587, with burial to follow at Wake Forest Cemetery.  Face coverings and social distancing are required.
