Becky Sherron Stone, 74, of Wake Forest, passed away February 7, 2020 in Raleigh. She was born September 15, 1945 in Nash County, a daughter of the late Maurice and Ruth (Arrington) Walker. Becky grew up with her family in Battleboro. She was predeceased by her first husband of 32 years, Marvin Sherron and her second husband of five years, Lloyd Stone and step-son Michael Sherron and his wife Lynn.

Becky graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School and Meredith College. She worked for NC Science and Technology Research Center from 1968-1975. Becky touched the lives of not only her friends and family, but those in her community as well.  She volunteered for 25 years for Hopeline, a crisis and suicide intervention organization. During her time at Hopeline she spent two years as the Board President.  In 1980, she received the Governor’s award of appreciation for distinguished service to the people of North Carolina. In 1993, Becky obtained her insurance agent license and worked for Walters Insurance agency form 1997-2018.

Becky is survived by her step-children: Randy Sherron of Greensboro, Kevin Stone and his wife, Allison of Easley, SC, Brent Stone of Beaverton, OR, and Christy Lambright and her husband, John of Wake Forest; her step-grandchildren: Jack, Luke and Madelyn of Easley, SC, Cassidy Sherron and her husband, Tim Johnson, of Raleigh, and Watson Lambright of Wake Forest; her siblings: Gail Ayers and her husband, Bobby Jo of Rocky Mount, and Ruth Edwards and her husband, Steve of Wake Forest. She also will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm at Wake Forest Baptist Church, Wake Forest. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, Wake Forest.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastern North Carolina Chapter- Alzheimer’s Association.
