Tribute

Betty Ann Mitchell Lindsey was born in Franklin County on July 30, 1944. She fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease until at home, surrounded by her family; Jesus came to take her to her new home on Sunday night, July 15, 2018. She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church. Betty was a daughter of the late Floyd Hester and Lucille Pulley Mitchell, granddaughter of the late Alfred and Allie Mitchell and the Late Burnie and Sarah Pulley. She was also predeceased by a baby sister, Aileen Carol Mitchell.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years and caregiver, Danny Joe Lindsey, two stepchildren, Danny Lee Lindsey and Christy (Jonathan) Weaver, step-grandchildren Savannah Weaver, Logan, Jake and Matthew Lindsey, sister Janie Mitchell Ray, nieces Lynn and Kristy Burke, Hailey and Kaitlyn Klein, nephews: Josh Burke, Mike, John, Jacob, Colton, and Wyatt Ray. She is also survived by two other sisters, a brother, nieces and nephews.

Joe and Betty were married on July 2, 1984 in Franklin County. Betty worked at Corner Drug Store, Aerotron, Terminal Communications, and retired from Surtech Assembly in Youngsville. She loved Jesus, children, her family, and made many lasting friendships in each place she worked. She will be missed by many.

Joe, Janie, Lynn, Kristy, and Melvin (Betty’s Care Team) wish to express their thanks and appreciation to the following, we know this will not cover everyone who has played a part in this journey but if your name is not here, please know that whatever you did was most appreciated by us, especially by Betty.

The Transitions Palliative Care and Hospice Care Team: Dwan, Nancy, Rachel, Katherine, Linda, Steve, and especially Special Volunteer Natalie Mills (Joe and Betty’s Angel.)

Joe’s nieces Melissa, Debbie and Heather. Christy and Danny’s mother, Betty. Family and friend volunteers: Lavern Loyd, Michelle Williams, Barron and Kerry Lindsey, neighbors who mowed grass or brought food- especially Daisy Abbott and Doug and Mary Lu Smith, Maggie Kearney and Dorothy Gupton, also Alicia Pearce.

The special care team from Mount Olivet Baptist Church who built the handicap ramp and back deck.

A special thanks to Dr. William Ferrell and his nurse, Kate at Raleigh Neurology who diagnosed this in February 2014 and had been with us through this entire time.

Also the prayers and inquiries from so many people that it is impossible to name but were most appreciated.
