Brenda McLawhorn Gray

Brenda M. Gray, 79, of Raleigh, passed away on Monday March 14, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Greenville NC a daughter of the late Jessie Cayton McLawhorn and Meakin Earl McLawhorn. She was the beloved wife of her husband of 58 years Graham B. Gray who preceded her in death.

She was a retired bookkeeper and was a member of Richland Creek Community Church.

She loved playing cards with anyone who wanted a fair and hard game, laughing with and at her family, loving her entire family and being with friends. Brenda’s greatest hobby was that of helping others. Her commitment to her faith helped her to think of others before herself. Her home was home to others many times throughout her life. She was a woman of her word and spoke the truth to all. She was the beloved mother of 3 beautiful girls who adored her.  She is survived by her children, Denise Love (Joel Love), Regina G. Johnston (Jay Johnston), and Tammy Price (Brian Price) and her siblings Bud and Judy McLawhorn, Clay and Julie McLawhorn, and Debra and Mike Whaley. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also opened her heart and home to Denise Ewards, Jack and Suzanne Milan, and Gina Smith who lovingly called her “Mom”.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Richland Creek Community Church, 3229 Burlington Mill Road, Wake Forest NC 27507. Friends may visit with family immediately following the service.
