Tribute

Carolyn Wicker Cole, age 81 of Wake Forest died on June 1, 2020.  Carolyn was born on July 27, 1938 to the late Ellis William Wicker and Louise Maddox Wicker.  She was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church and was a former member of Highland Baptist Church in Raleigh.  She retired from JE Sirrine where she served in the Human Resources Department.  She loved her family dearly and shared in many special family events especially annual family beach trips. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent countless hours with them. She was an active member of the Koinonia Sunday School Class and enjoyed participating in the quilting ministry at her church. She cherished the friendship of many over her lifetime and will be remembered as a special friend.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday afternoon, June 5, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Church-Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, space at the service will be limited due to social distancing requirements. Masks are appreciated while attending services.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Kim Cross and husband Gene of Wake Forest, Clara Wells and husband Edward of Raleigh, grandchildren Braxton Cross and wife Kari of Wake Forest, Taylor Cross of Rockville, Maryland, and Adam Wells of Apex; great-grandchildren Paityn, Paige, Paisley and Cooper Cross all of Wake Forest; siblings Peggy Wicker of Sanford; along with many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her special friend and companion Jerry Byers and his family. She was preceded in death by her husband James Earl Cole and sister Helen Mauldin.

Carolyn was an active volunteer with the quilting ministry at her church and shared special times with this group..  Donations in her memory may be made to the Wake Forest Baptist Church-Quilting Ministry, 118 East South Street, Wake Forest, NC 27587
