Tribute

Carroll Douglas Haynes (Doug) of Wake Forest, NC passed away June 10, 2020 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC at the age of 73.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents W.V. and Ruth Haynes; brothers, Wiley Horace Haynes (Skipper) and infant brother Levern Reeves Haynes.  After 40 years of service, he retired from the  North Carolina Department of Transportation in 2008.  He was recognized with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the highest award for state service granted by the office of the Governor.  Doug was a long time member of Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh and enjoyed his Small Group friends.  His life was a true testimony of his faith in Jesus until his final breath.  He grew up in Western North Carolina in the small mountain town of Clyde.  He always said he was very fortunate to have this beginning as it shaped his values of faith, family and friends.  Doug loved sports and played football for Clyde High School.  His love of sports carried over as a coach for Little League Football and active in the Sanderson High School Athletic Association.  He never missed an athletic event for his children. Always positive and sharing jokes or humorous stories while living with multiple health issues.  His favorite pastime was fishing and enjoying family on his pontoon boat at Kerr Lake.  His life verse was Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is with you; the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”  Doug loved music and it is certain he is singing God’s praises in heaven.

Doug is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Belinda R. Haynes; son, Jim Haynes and wife Gay of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Nancy Haynes Moseley and husband Chip of Rolesville, NC; grandchildren, Chase Moseley, Molly Moseley, Jaxon Moseley, Brad Moseley, James Moseley, Mattie Haynes, Jordan Register and Carson Michael Register; niece, Kathie Jo Haynes.
