Catherine Bonfiglio, 90, of Wake Forest, passed away July 31, 2019 in Raleigh. She was born in New York City; a daughter of the late Sabastiana Consolino.
Catherine Bonfiglio was born in New York City in 1929. At the age of 2, her and her family moved to Italy where she lived for 16 years before coming back to America at the age of 18. She met her husband Salvatore while working in Brooklyn, NY. They married in 1952 and ran a clothing factory where they produced women's sportswear for over 30 years. Together they had 2 children - Leonard and Maria. Catherine lived with her family in Queens, NY until 2015 when she and her family moved to Wake Forest NC. In her spare time, Catherine enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, needle pointing, and of course, cooking. She was always happy to teach her children, grandchildren, and eventually even her great grandchildren all of her recipes and Italian traditions.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband Salvatore Bonfiglio, and siblings: Jenny Pantorno, Salvatore Consolino, and Vito Consolino.
She is survived by her daughter Maria Trovato; grandchildren: Jaime Ewald, Michael Bonfiglio, Melissa Saposnick, and Frankie Marie Pucci; great-grandchildren: Alexa Saposnick, Salvatore Saposnick, and Sawyer Bonfiglio.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 Saturday, August 10, 2019 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest. (919) 556-5811
