Catherine Byrd Fritsch

Catherine Byrd Fritsch of Raleigh passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021 at the age of 84.  She was born in Biscoe, NC in Montgomery County on February 10, 1936, to the late Julian C. Byrd and Mary Kate Faircloth Byrd.  Catherine’s adventurous spirit took her to Norfolk , VA where she met her husband, Louis Fritsch.  They settled and raised their family in Raleigh.  She loved cooking for her family, sunny vacations at the beach, lively conversations with longtime friends and neighbors, and cheering for the Duke Basketball!  Catherine was  an intelligent, strong and confident woman who succeeded in a male dominated corporate world.  She was a loving, caring matriarch who would drop everything in a second to go help her family with anything they needed.  Catherine is survived by her husband of 63 years Louis Fritsch, and her children, Pamela Fritsch Lefler and husband Keith of Bayboro, NC, Ralph Fritsch and wife Kerri of Valrico, FL; grandchildren Laura Lefler, Alexa Fritsch, and Tyler Fritsch; and great grandson, Evan Ridenour.  Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a private service will be planned with the family. To honor Catherine, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh or to the charity of your choosing.
