Clara Payne James

Clara Payne James, 77, of Wake Forest passed away on Sunday July 19, 2020 at her residence.

She was born in Madison County the daughter of the late Vina Irene Lamb Payne and Leonard James Payne. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Cole Miller.

Mrs. James enjoyed interior designing, lawn and garden projects and decorating for the holidays. She had heavy work ethics and went over and above when doing any projects. She loved to travel and taking day trips and liked eating at quality restaurants. She was a devout Christian.

A funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon July 23, 2020 at the Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Mrs. James is survived by her husband; James P. Whitfield, Jr., her children; Amanda Miller, Scott James and Troy James, step-children; Allison Whitfield-Smith and Dr. James P. Whitfield, III, sisters; Nancy Beck and Brenda Kerley, a brother; Jim Payne, grandchildren; Riley and Andrew James.
