Fortified by the sacraments of her faith, Constance Cecelia Schiffer Petosky entered into the presence of our Lord on August 15, 2018 at the age of 77 in Raleigh, NC. She joins her beloved son Marc Petosky, her parents Eugene and Josephine Schiffer; cherished brothers, David, Daniel and Richard Schiffer into eternal life. She is survived by her children Gregory (Carolyn) Petosky, Robyn Petosky Watwood, Eric Petosky, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Petosky. Her grandchildren, William Joel, Lauren, Bre and Joeb. Her siblings Rose Marie (Ron) Gessler, Eugene (Nancy) Schiffer, Jr., Leonard (Mary Jane) Schiffer, Susanne (Todd) Farrell, Andrea (John) Salerno and Stephene Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews who will treasure her memory forever.

Born on May 8, 1941 in Oil City, PA, Connie attended St. Stephen’s Catholic School and Oil City High.

In 1966 Connie moved to New Jersey where she raised her four children.  In 1983, Connie moved to Florida, and then North Carolina, where she ultimately settled.

Connie dedicated her life to loving and supporting her children along with the countless kids she served throughout her career as a Job Corps counselor. She loved her faith, family, food, dancing and socializing, and was always the heart of the party.  Connie enjoyed shopping for trinkets and treasures to give to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Babcia or Ciotka.

As the unofficial family historian, Connie often regaled the family with stories of grandparents, aunt and uncles from generations past and kept the family’s Polish heritage alive with an assortment of sweet and sassy Polish phrases and homemade pierogis. A woman of incredible faith with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, Connie found hope and goodness in even the most difficult circumstances.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 520 West Holding Ave., Wake Forest, NC on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2PM. She will be buried in a family plot at Calvary Cemetery in Oil City, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to a charity of their choice that is representative of Connie’s Catholic faith and beliefs.  Donations can also be made to the CJD Foundation in her name.
