Dannie Lee Stull, 67, died Monday, March 4, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born August 25, 1951 to Anna Lee Jackson Stull and Warren Stull. Dannie was born and raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He received an Associates Degree from NOVA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the American University. Dannie’s dedication to the Alexandria Police Department and to the citizens of Alexandria is most commendable. He will truly be missed.
Officer Dannie Stull joined the Alexandria Police Department on November 21, 1977. He was assigned to the Patrol Division prior to being transferred to the Crime Prevention Unit on November 28, 1983. During Dannie’s 23 years with the Alexandria Police Department, he has been involved in many community projects and was a certified D.A.R.E and Firearms instructor. He was the Department representative for Eisenhower Partnership Committee and the Mount Vernon Enterprise Zone. Dannie was also the liaison to the Seminary and Van Dorn Civic Associations.
Dannie received numerous letters of appreciation from citizens, and letters of commendations from the Chief of Police and other Department Officials. Dannie rose to the rank of Police Officer IV before retiring from the Department. One of Dannie’s greatest joys was working with children. He spent a lot of his time building and transporting items for the Police Youth Camp. He also participated in fund raising activities to sponsor the youth camp, to include the Annual Christmas Tree Sale.
Dannie is survived by: his former wife, Ann Katherine McCoy of Rolesville, NC; his children, Michelle Arnold and husband, Jason of Wake Forest, Zac Stull of Rolesville, NC; two grandchildren, Vincent and Olivia Arnold of Wake Forest; his mother, Anna Lee Stull of Greenwood, Indiana; a sister, Gayle Robey and husband, Roger of Greenwood, Indiana, Argel Stull and wife Rosemary of Elizabeth, West Virginia and Brent Stull and wife, Sally of Parkersburg, West Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends who he considered family.
Graveside services for Dannie will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Wake Forest Town Cemetery, Wake Forest.
