Dorothy "Dot" Renelda Smith

Dorothy (Dot) R. Smith, 69, of Wake County, North Carolina and formerly of Stanton, Kentucky, traded earthly pain for eternal rest on July 19, 2021.  Dot was preceded in death by her love, Stanton native Tommy (Thomas W) Smith and her parents, Basil and Charlene Smith (of Stanton, Ky  and Lutesville, Missouri).  Her loss is mourned by her children:  D’etra (Dee) Smith Shelley (Jonathan) of Rolesville, North Carolina; Benjamin (Emily) of Wake Forest; William (Dawn) of Hope Mills; Trang LeGaffney (Bac) of Leesburg, Virginia; and her brothers; John Smith (Donna) of Greensboro, NC and Mitchell Smith (Sandi) of Lexington, Kentucky.  Dot will be missed by her grandchildren:  Joshua and Maia Shelley; Ailey and Addyson Smith; Dakota and Katie Smith; Tommy, Charlie, and Bella LeGaffney; numerous cherished nephews and nieces; and many who found themselves mentored by her caring heart. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening July 22, 2021 from 6-8 at Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center 405 South Main Street Wake Forest, NC 27587. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Lions Club in Stanton, Kentucky on July 31, 2021 from 4-6 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Food Bank of NC or a favorite charity.
