Douglas Branch Jones

Douglas “Doug” Branch Jones, 81, of Rolesville passed away on Monday June 21, 2021 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh. He was born in Wake County the son of the late Iowa Gupton Jones and Irene King Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Linda Averette Jones and sisters Aslee Odom and Frances Beddingfield. 

Doug retired from the NCDOT after 30+ years of service. He was a member of the Rolesville Baptist Church. In addition, he served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Rolesville Fire Department and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. 

Doug loved all types of sports and he especially enjoyed attending Wake Forest High School football games. He also enjoyed spending times with his family and many friends, especially his “Breakfast Crew” and his “Friday Lunch Crew.” The many great memories made with family and friends at Kerr Lake over the past 40+ years will be cherished forever. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Friday morning June 25, 2021 in the Rolesville Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Bridges and Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 – 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Church Family Life Center. 

Mr. Jones is survived by his sons; Alexander Douglas “Al” Jones and wife Shannon, Bradley Horton “Brad” Jones and wife Dayla; grandchildren; Zander, Kylie, Ashton and Grayson. A brother; Wallace Jones and special cousin Barbara Ann Richards.
