Elaine Rich Brown

Elaine Rich Brown, 71, of Wake Forest, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019, with her family by her side.  She was born to the late John Oscar and Loreen McLamb Rich on April 6, 1948, and she graduated from Peace College high school. Elaine is survived by her two sons, Tres Brown (and wife, Bridget), of Raleigh, and Scott Brown (and husband, David Whorton), also of Raleigh; by her sister, Helen Bowen, of Hood River, Oregon; by her brother, John Rich (and wife Melanie), of Wake Forest; by two grand-children, Abigail Francis Brown and Melissa Elaine Brown, of Youngsville; and by many other beloved friends and family members.

               Elaine studied ballet when she was growing up and danced with the North Carolina Ballet Company, and she had a lifelong love of music.  She also loved cats and dogs and adopted many pets and strays over the years.  Elaine also loved children, and she could never pass up a chance to hold a baby. More than anything, Elaine loved her family and friends extravagantly.  She had a huge heart and was always giving to others, even when she had very little for herself.  Elaine loved family dinners and traditions like Thanksgiving and Christmas.  She loved to cook for everyone and to bring everyone together as a family.  Elaine brightened so many lives with her love and her many kindnesses.  She will be greatly missed.

               The family will have a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Historic Wakefield Barn, 12617 Falls of Neuse, Wake Forest, NC 27587; which was designed by Elaine’s grandfather and which her father helped build. Details for the service will be announced as soon as they are set.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wake County SPCA in Elaine’s memory.
