December 15, 1922 ~ December 10, 2020 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Tribute

Eilzabeth “Betty” Rose DiFini, of Raleigh passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, just 5 days shy of her 98th birthday.  She was born December 15, 1922 in the Bronx, New York.  She went by a few names; Betty, Mommy, Mama and Aunt Betty.

Betty grew up in the Bronx with her four siblings, mother and father. After Betty’s first husband passed, she raised her son Mickey as a single mother with the help of her family.

She became a seamstress in New York City and it was there, at DiFini Originals, that she met her husband Charlie.  They made a life on Theresa Lane in Scarsdale, NY.  Betty and Charlie had two daughters right away, just one year apart; Patricia and Maria.  Family has always come first for Betty.  She welcomed everyone and made everyone feel special.

Betty and her family were long time parishioners of Annunciation Parish in Crestwood NY. Both daughters and 2 of her grandchildren attended Annunciation school.

In 2006, Betty, her daughters, and their families, moved to Raleigh, NC.  Her son and his family moved from Hawaii to be near her just a few years later.  Together they all lived within walking distance. This is her legacy, her family who she kept close and bound together throughout her life.

A funeral Mass will be held  Tuesday, December 15, 2020, 2pm at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest to celebrate Betty’s life. Social distancing and face coverings are required.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Pistocco Piacentino and Louis Piacentino, her son Michael Hugh Nolan III and husband Charlie DiFini, sisters Lilly Vesce, Rose Madel and Rita Smurro.

She is survived by her younger brother Louie, whom she called Sonny, her daughters, Maria Pucci, Patricia Stevens and husband Kevin, daughter in law Susan Nolan, grandchildren Christopher Pucci and wife Frankie Marie Pucci, Michael Pucci, Tyler Stevens and wife Corey Stevens, Tiana Young and husband Josh Young, Nadia Stevens, Hunter Stevens, Michael Hugh “Mikey” Nolan, IV,  Mari Leilani Nolan, great grandchildren Isla Rose Young, Marion Rose Young, Holden Burke Stevens, Baby boy Pucci,  step children Theresa Polt and husband Steven, and Corky DiFini, many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.
