Eugene B Dillman

Gene Dillman passed away on October 18, 2019, at the age of 68, from pancreatic cancer. He was born in St. Louis, MO on November 22, 1950 and was the son of the late Rev. Lewis A. Dillman and Dorothy Jones Dillman.

He graduated from Methodist College, served four years in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Lt. JG. He then received an MPA degree from UNC-Greensboro.

Gene had a career in human resources that spanned over 30 years, most of which was spent with the NC League of Municipalities. He was also the founding president of the MAPS Group, a human resources consulting firm, primarily serving local governments and non-profits in NC.

After retirement, he turned a hobby of buying and selling political memorabilia into a business called OldPoliticals.com, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also dealt briefly in historical antiques, donating many items to the Methodist University Lafayette Society.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rena; his favorite sister in law, Debbie; his ‘sister’ Nancy along with nephews Jake and Jeb, and niece Jenni. Also surviving is his brother, David of New Bern, NC.

Services will be privately held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lafayette Society of Methodist University, or any veterans’ charity of choice.
