Fernando F. Dohnert

Fernando “Phil” F. Dohnert, 72, of Franklinton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 7, 2018 in Raleigh. He was born April 29, 1946 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Fernando and Matilde (Molina) Dohnert. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock, Monday afternoon, November 12, 2018 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home 405 South Main St. Wake Forest, NC, 27587. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Garden.

Phil was a truck driver that loved to drive around the country seeing all the beauty of America. He particularly enjoyed the mountains and vacationing in Virginia and Tennessee. He loved animals, especially dogs. He would pick up stray dogs regularly. He once had a herd of 10 dogs at one time and this was one of the happiest eras of his life. He loved Sci- Fi movies, coffee with doughnuts, and receiving hugs.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nydia (Bonilla) Dohnert, his three sons, and four grandchildren: Fernando Dohnert, Jr, daughter-in-law Heidi Dohnert, grandchildren Trey and Parker; Roberto Dohnert; Eric Dohnert, daughter-in-law Ann Bonini Dohnert, grandchildren Meaghan and Eric Tyler.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 Sunday evening, November 11, 2018 at the funeral home.
