Francis Roger DiCostanzo (Frank) peacefully passed away at age 80 on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Surrounded by loved ones, he passed at his home in Wake Forest, North Carolina, after a short fight with cancer.
Frank was born September 12, 1942 in Norwalk, Connecticut. His parents, John and Grace DiCostanzo, raised their two sons, Francis and Lawrence, in their Italian-American home. Frank graduated from Norwalk High School in 1960 and worked at Norden Systems in Norwalk, then at Rockefeller University in New York City. After retiring, he and his wife, Anita, moved to North Carolina in 2017 to be closer to two of his children, John DiCostanzo and Jennifer DiCostanzo.
In 1964, Frank voluntarily enlisted in the US Army where he served the USA in research on aerial instrumentation. Francis was a proud veteran and had a lifelong attachment to charities that supported military veterans. Frank enjoyed working with his hands and developed an extensive wood shop where he produced furniture of great beauty using traditional and historical designs. Along with being a skilled craftsman, he was a great cook, and was devoted to family, his heritage, and tradition.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Helga DiCostanzo of Wake Forest, North Carolina; his children, Jennifer Daile DiCostanzo of Angier, North Carolina, John William DiCostanzo (Katherine) of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, and Anastasia Anita DiCostanzo of New Milford, Connecticut; his brother, Lawrence DiCostanzo (Barbara) of Albany, California; and the mother of his first two children, Pamela H. DiCostanzo of Angier, North Carolina. He also leaves behind extended family and a wide circle of friends in both Connecticut and North Carolina.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held Thursday, September 7, at 2:00pm at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest.
