Frank Joseph Carite, age 95, passed away on January 15, 2023.  He was born May 7, 1927, in Riverside Park, New Jersey to Sicilian immigrants Antonio Cariti and Anna Maimone. He served in the New Jersey Militia in World War II and retired a CW3 from full time active duty in the New Jersey Army National Guard after serving in Vietnam.  He then retired from civil service.   

Frank had many hobbies in retirement including beekeeping, attending dowsing conventions, gardening, and golf.  His family was always the most important part of his life. 

He is survived by the great love of his life and wife of 70 years, Shirley Jean (nee Bundy).  He was predeceased by brothers Carl, Anthony and Charles all of New Jersey and son Frank Joseph, Jr. of Virginia.  He is survived by his sister Rosemarie Winters, children Deborah Culbert of Florida, Nancy Lightsey (Thomas G.) of Tennessee, Carol Holden (Harold Avery) of North Carolina, Paul Carite (Mollie) of North Carolina, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He will be laid to rest at Sandhills Veterans Cemetery in a private ceremony with full military honors.
