Frank Downing Allison, 52, of Carrboro, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on August 12, 2018. Frank was born on May 27, 1966 in Somerset, KY into an Air Force Family. He lived in many places, but found a home in North Carolina where he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Frank graduated in May of 2018 with a Master's Degree in Social Work with Focus in Substance use and addictions. As Coordinator for Collegiate Recovery Programs, and Clinical Addictions Counselor at UNC Chapel Hill Frank has been integral in the growing Carolina Recovery Program. Frank was passionate about students and anyone struggling with alcohol and substance abuse, who are in or seeking recovery.
Frank was often called the most courageous person in the room. His booming voice, deep laugh and big heart will be missed. The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Wake Forest Alano Club at www.wakeforestalanoclub.com. The Alano Club provides a bridge to those new in recovery and was near and dear to Frank's heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Peggy Allison, brothers, Tom and Jim, and sister, Kathy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 10 o'clock in the morning in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest.
Frank is survived by; a sister Margaret and her husband, Michael Surber; a brother, Kent and his wife, Debbie Allison a sister, Jennifer and her husband, Donald Brogden; sister Cindi and her husband, Doug Gendron. Frank had many cherished relatives who will miss him deeply, including nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
