Frederick William Baker, of Raleigh born on March 6, 1930, died December 21, 2020, at the age of 90. Fred was born in Glasgow Scotland, the son of the late Herbert Ernest Baker and Lillian Ruth Bird.
Frederick was a wonderful man, a hard working, talented carpenter, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Grace J. Mellis, for over 60 years! Fred began in the carpenter trade as a teenager and was a Union Carpenter for 30 years. He built wonderful homes for his family in New York where they lived for 40 years, and where they raised their three children. He adored his children, never missing a game, school event or special occasion. Frederick and Grace moved to North Carolina in 1995 and quickly became part of the Senior Community, singing and entertaining for many Senior's Centers. He enjoyed dancing and performing at the Wake Forest Senior Center and numerous other clubs. Frederick was a member of Youngsville Baptist church since 2000.
Mr. Baker is survived by his children, Richard Baker and wife, Ryann, of Youngsville and their grandchildren Nicole, Kelly and Kyle and great-grandchild Skylar, Lynn Winkelbauer and husband Joseph, of Poughkeepsie, NY and their children Victoria Joshua and Joseph and great-grandchild Jonathan, and Diane Baker of Red Hook, NY and her children Alex and Mark, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death of wife, Grace J Baker and grandson, Brandon Baker.
A celebration of his life will be held in the Spring of 2021 at the Youngsville Baptist Church.
