Frederick Eugene Russ

Fred Russ, of Wake Forest, passed away on May 25, 2020 at the age of 78, surrounded by family that loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita Russ; his children: Michelle Maiolo, and her husband Joey, of Wake Forest, and Steven Russ and his wife Catherine of Cary; his grandchildren: Brittney Maiolo and Katlyn Maiolo of Wake Forest, and Collin Russ of Cary; siblings: Martha Niles and her husband Ray, of Efland, Lloyd Russ and wife Judy, of Mebane, Lewis Russ, of Mebane, and is preceded in death by his brother Eric Russ, of Portland. 

He was born August 29, 1941 in Durham the son of the late William and Mildred Russ.

Fred was retired from traffic engineering with the NC State Dept of Transportation. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and entertaining with his childhood stories.  He loved his family deeply and instilled in his children strong values that have served them well.  Fred was a loving husband, father, and friend and will be remembered for his kindness and gentle nature.
