George G. Ferrell, Jr, age 65, passed away on July 4, 2019 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. He was born on June 17, 1954 to George and Emily Jane Baker Ferrell in Wake County. George was preceded in death by his father, George G. Ferrell, Sr.
He graduated from Wake Forest High School. Although George was born in the Piedmont, he loved North Carolina’s coast and spent many years in the Topsail Beach area, working for Winn Dixie, managing the Loggerhead Inn, and as a cook at the Smokehouse Restaurant in Surf City. After retiring George returned to Wake Forest, where he met and married the love of his life, Ada.
George enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his dogs, Chase and Skylar, cooking and doing yard work. During his last few weeks in and out of the hospital, he would tell Ada and Jennifer that he loved them, and then reminded them to water his flowers. George loved to watch NASCAR and golf and was a big fan of Chase Elliot and Tiger Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Holding Ferrell; his mother Emily Jane Baker Ferrell; his brother Tim (Amy) of Zebulon and sister Pam Moore (Gordon) of Louisburg; daughter Jennifer Ferrell Sensinger, step daughters Robyn Dinkel (Joel) of Charlotte and Victoria Fisher of Wake Forest and three grandchildren.
