Georgia Lavay Baxter, 19, is now walking peacefully in heaven as of June 5, 2018. Georgia was born on July 18, 1998, to Stephen and Mary Ralston Baxter. She was a follower of Christ from a young age and quietly served Him and others well with her gentle nature and cheerful demeanor. She loved reading, making music, and spending precious time with her loved ones. She clearly doted on her younger sisters, and it was normal to find the three girls together. Those who knew Georgia were privileged to witness a courageous young believer persevere with grace and hope through long adversity. As she enjoys the rewards of faithfulness in Christ, we can gratefully look to her example for ourselves.
Georgia was preceded in death by her twin brother, John David Baxter, and by her grandfather, John Travis Baxter.
She is survived by her parents, Stephen and Mary Ralston Baxter of Wake Forest; her sisters, Abigail Marie Baxter and Stephanie Ann Baxter; her grandparents, David and Georgia Ralston and Lavay Baxter; her uncles and aunts, DJ and Mary Alice Ralston, Mark and Anna Kerrigan, and David Baxter; and many loved ones with whom she was close.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Friendship Baptist Church, 5510 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Garden of Wake Forest. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Friday, June 8, prior to Georgia’s service.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the International Student Program at Friendship Christian School or Christ to the Nations Children’s Program at PO Box 236713, Cocoa, FL 32923.
