Gerald Angelo Masone

March 25, 1929 ~ January 22, 2021 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Gerald Angelo Masone, 91, of Youngsville, N.C., died Friday, January 22, 2021 from complications from Covid-19. Born March 25th, 1929 in Rochester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Angelo and Antoinetta (Papparella) Masone.

Born in Pennsylvania, as a youth Gerald moved with his family to Stamford, CT, where he met and was wed to Mary Ann Reitano of Westport.  He joined the Army and was a Mess Sergeant stationed in Biloxi, MS, eventually moving to Norwalk, CT, to settle and raise his family.  He worked at Eastman Motors of Stamford for over 30 years, becoming partners with Tony Marciano and the late Joseph Strazza.  Gerald also was partners with his son Jerry Masone for years at Walsh’s Liquor Store in Norwalk.  An avid golfer, he was a long-time member of Shorehaven Golf Club.

Later in life he moved to North Carolina to be closer to his son.  Known as “Pop” to all, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important part of his life.  Never failing to have a great story (and maybe a tall tale!) to tell, Pop was always quick with a joke and a laugh.

He is survived by his devoted son, Gerald Masone, Jr. and his wife Debbie, four grandchildren, Nicole Paquette (Jacques), Stephanie Fowler (Aaron), Christian Masone (Brooke), and Devin Masone.  Seven great-grandchildren Stone, Pierce, and Koughlin Paquette, Harrison and Jordan Fowler, Liam Masone and Lawson Masone, all of North Carolina.

He is also survived by his loving sister Susan Cameron of South Carolina and brother Joseph Masone of Arizona.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers and sisters Sarah Nazzaro, Gilda Zezima, Mary Rose Slimo, Anthony Masone, Yolanda Lucia, and James Masone.

A special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at both Litchford Falls Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and, most recently, at Raleigh Rehabilitation Center, for their kindness and loving care.

Funeral services will be held privately due to Covid-19.  The Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main Street, Wake Forest, NC 27587 is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.brightfunerals.com
