Hugh Garland Becton, 72, of Rolesville, passed away August 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born October 14, 1945 in Lenoir County, the oldest son of the late C.G. “Pete” and Delilah (Hyman) Becton.
Garland was graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Accounting and was a Certified Public Accountant. He worked as Chief Financial Officer for many years in Greenville, NC, first at Overton’s Sports Center and later at Acculink. Garland was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed playing golf, kayaking, and fishing, and was an avid reader.
Garland is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judeth (Judy) Creech Becton of the home; daughters: Mystie Brotherton and husband John of Shelby, NC, Melanie Vance and husband Gregory of Rolesville, Amanda Waddell and husband David of Four Oaks, NC, and chosen daughter Christina Karosy and husband Kenneth of Raleigh; nine grandchildren: Cassidy and Ian Brotherton, Jacob, Samuel, Noah, and Hayden Vance, Lilly Waddell and Zoey and Cayden Karosy; his brother Darrel Becton and wife Debra of Kinston, NC, and nephews: Darren Becton and family of Greenville, NC and Dustin Becton and family of Deep Run, NC.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1581 Bethlehem Church Rd, Youngsville, NC. The family will receive guests immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Youngsville, NC or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Foundation.
