J. Wayne Robertson

John Wayne Robertson, 85, of Wake Forest, passed away Wednesday evening, December 8, 2021 at Transitions Hospice. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Joseph Bennett Robertson and Iola King Robertson and was a member of Rolesville Baptist Church. Mr. Robertson was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the Raleigh Fire Department as District Chief after 30 years of service.

Wayne loved his family, fire department brotherhood, and following sports in all seasons, especially his Champion Atlanta Braves and the NC State Wolfpack.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery. Face coverings are requested for those attending. The service in the chapel will be live streamed for those unable to attend beginning at 2:55 p.m.

Mr. Robertson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Bullock Robertson; daughters, Lisa Wilson and husband, Allen, of Zebulon and Sara Hagwood and husband, Bobby, of Wake Forest; 1 sister, Sue Williams and husband, Jim, of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Robertson.; grandchildren, John Wilson (Hannah), Jamie Wilson-Bunn (Michael) and Greyson Hagwood; great-grandchildren, Noah Wilson, Anabelle Wilson, Mackenzie Wilson, Lilah Wilson and Royce Bunn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Robertson and by his grandmother, Bertie Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 2:00p.m. until 2:45p.m. prior to the service.
