Trey was born in Chattanooga, TN to James M. and Betty Joyce Fox Ball. He attended public schools in Tennessee and Southwest Virginia as his father served throughout the Holston Conference as a United Methodist minister.
Trey was preceded in death by his infant brother, Philip Byron Ball, his grandparents, Fred R. and Grace Irons Fox and James M. and Alicia Summers Ball. Trey is also preceded in death by his Aunt and Uncle Jo Anna and Malcolm Grier and Aunt and Uncle Elizabeth and Jack Lanning. Trey is survived by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Christine Ball of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Dr. William Berry of Raleigh, NC; nephews, Preston and Nicholas Ball, Michael Pratt and James Berry; nieces, Emily Pratt, Erin Berry Spalinski (David) and Rachel Berry (Ben Young).
Trey was differently abled, but that is not who he was. He was kind in spirit, generous with hugs, always concerned for others and was loved by every person who was fortunate enough to know him. His family depended on his unfailing memory for names from the distant past and those learned yesterday. His incredible sense of direction saved us on many a trip.
These are just a few of the agencies with which Trey volunteered over the years: Stop Hunger Now, Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network (Family Promise), Hayes Barton UMC, SPCA, Clothes Closet, and Flower Shuttle.
Trey was also a loyal member of the following: M&M singers, the Starnes Sunday School Class, Camp Hesed, Special Olympics and Transitions Day Program-A Small Miracle.
The family wishes to thank our Hayes Barton UMC family and especially the Starnes Class and their devoted teachers, the Care Team from Transitions Hospice, his long time support team led by Kristy Reeves, his long term care giver. Dolleen Garrison for loving and supporting Trey and Horace Canady for his many years of care for Trey.
A Service of Resurrection and Thanksgiving will be held at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church on October 20th at 12 noon. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.
Flowers will be welcome, and memorials can be made to: Hayes Barton United Methodist Church at 2209 Fairview Road Raleigh, NC 27608; The Starnes Sunday School Class at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church; or The ARC of Wake County at 1300 Saint Mary’s Street Unit 200 Raleigh, NC 27605.
