James Richard Tilley III

As a husband, father, son, friend, and so much more, Jay Tilley’s presence was often larger than life. His legacy will most certainly live on, through the lives of so many who’s paths he has crossed.

Jay was a business man, and was skilled in transforming start up ideas in the timber/wood industry into successful companies. Never fearing a risk he believed in, Jay gained the trust and respect of many he employed, as well as that of several industry colleagues.

Among the joys in Jay’s life, are his family, his farm, operating heavy equipment, and his animals. He was often found having his best conversations with his bull, ‘Eddie’, and his donkey, ‘JJ’. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling, and making people laugh until it hurt.

Jay is survived by his wife, Abby; their children, Dublin, Collins, Westin, and Linkin; his mother, Vivian Tilley; his father, Dick Tilley; his step-father, Billy Green; and countless more family members and friends.

A celebration of Jay’s life is scheduled for 2:30 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Bayleaf Baptist Church, 12200 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27614
